Notes from the demo run
AI-generatedWe signed into NeedSift with Google and drove the whole listing-submission flow on camera: the catalog, the People directory, then /add-product filled out field by field - name, auto-derived slug, category, tagline, description and the links block. The form itself is the nicest part of the product: live character counters on every field, a slug that writes itself from the product name, and six typed link slots instead of one free-text box.
- The slug writes itself and shows the final URLTyping 'Lastest' filled the URL field with 'lastest' and rendered it as needsift.com/p/lastest inline. A submitter sees their permanent SEO URL before committing to a name.
- Character counters on every field7/100, 62/150, 224/1000 update live as you type. Nobody has to guess whether a tagline is too long, and nobody gets a truncation surprise on the listing page.
- Typed link slots, not one free-text boxWebsite, GitHub, X, Telegram, App Store and Google Play each have their own field with a format-hinting placeholder. That is why your listing pages are consistent - the consistency is enforced at input time.
- The ranking formula is a public pageUptime 20 / Maintenance 25 / Site quality 15 / Social 10 / Listing 15 / Votes 15 is published rather than hand-waved, and the catalog says 'no paid placements'. That is the whole positioning, and putting it in the blog rather than a footnote is the right call.
- 'This field is required' stays visible after the field is filledOn /add-product, Product name, Category, Tagline and Description all still show the red 'This field is required' message while holding valid content - the counters update (7/100, 62/150, 224/1000), so the state is there; only the error text does not clear. Re-validating the field on change (instead of only on submit) removes what currently looks like a broken form.
- Screenshots are effectively mandatory but read as optionalThe Screenshots block says 'Min 3, max 9' but is styled the same as the optional fields, so a submitter can fill everything else and only discover the requirement at submit. Marking it required up front - or letting the listing publish without images - would avoid a dead-end at the last click.
- /add-product (Submit Product)·We filled the whole listing but did not submit - you human-review every entry and we were not going to put a test listing in that queue.
