Notes from the demo run

AI-generated

We signed into My Big Empire with Google, added a project, flipped it public, wrote the empire plan and added a site monitor, then looked at the public profile those cards feed. One Google click to a working dashboard with no verification email is the fastest onboarding we have walked this week. The editing model, inline cards that save on blur, is lovely when it works and confusing in the two places where it does not.

Highlights
  • One click from login to a live dashboard
Continue with Google put us straight on /lastestdemo/dashboard, no verify email, no workspace wizard. Nothing stands between a curious visitor and the product.
  • Every card has a public toggle
Projects, log, monitor and plan each carry their own Public switch, so build-in-public is a per-card decision rather than an all-or-nothing profile setting.
  • The public profile is the payoff
The dashboard and /<username> are the same content in two costumes, which makes the reason to fill it in obvious.
Friction points
  • The log format rule only appears after a failed save
Our first entry, Sat 27 Sep, was rejected with First line must be a date (14.9.2026 or 2026-09-14). Putting that line under the textarea before the first save would have avoided a retry.
  • Edit this day cannot be clicked
The pencil on a saved log day sits under the entry list, so a normal click lands on the <li> instead of the button. A z-index or pointer-events fix on .log-entry-actions makes the day editable again.
